Robin Williams made a deal with Disney to voice the Genie in Aladdin on the condition that they don't use his likeness as the Genie in its advertising to promote the movie (such as his name or his voice) or sell anything with his character's face on it to make money off of him for more than 25% of the film's marketing (meaning they can use a little bit of him but not too much).
Disney violated their agreement by doing what Robin told them not to do, and this was what pissed him off :
This is why he doesn't appear as the Genie in the second film “The Return Of Jafar” or the Aladdin television series, Robin Williams was replaced by Dan Castellaneta in those productions, but he did return in “Aladdin And The King Of Thieves”.
