8. THE
TREE BOY
The next market day was just four
days ahead. Bale once again bought three wraps of his favorite Moi-Moi and
sat quietly alone under a tree by the
road side. His friends had really left him. He watched as people moved up and
down the streets leading to the market square, just some few yards away from
the new chief's house. He watched as how a woman quickly bent to pick the
banana peels that the child she was carrying dropped and then threw them in a
basket positioned by the side walk. Gradually, he took time to look around and
noticed that the law of sanitation was
gradually becoming the norm of the Olobun community. It wasn't as dirty
as it used to be when his father was still in control, he admitted within
himself, however he was indifferent about that.

THE LEGEND OF THE TREE BOY (7)
7. AN
OLD FARMER
Three days after, Bale and his
friends were released to go back home after being forced to perform the
necessary community services. They had all became very hungry and dirty. But on
getting back home, Bale found out that his parents had packed everything out of
home. He saw no one to question, not even any of the domestic maids, they all
too were gone. The suspense was becoming unbearable, so he quickly rushed to
their animal farm and discovered that there was none of their enormous
livestock there anymore. The poultry, the manger, the piggery and the stables
were all empty. The place was totally deserted.

THE SECOND ENCOUNTER
It was barely two weeks after Bale's first encounter with
the local police that he had a second one with them again. He and two of his
friends had bought some wraps of their favorite Moi-moi (Bean cakes) and sat
under a tree by the side of the road that leads to the king's palace to devour
them. They ignored the waste basket that was placed by the road side just some
feet away as they unwrapped the bean cakes and littered the road with the
wraps. But as they were about to leave, three community police officers, which
included the first two of Bale's earlier encounter, passed by. One of them
said, “Bale Onidoti, can't you and your friends tidy up this place after
eating?” Bale turned back and replied, “Tidy up where?” pointing to the ground
that had already been covered with dead leaves. “Can't you see that this place
is already untidy in the first place? Or do you expect us to clear this whole
place up just because we ate a few wraps of Moi-Moi? Even their leaves are
small compared to what the trees here have shed. Never! ” And his other friends
laughed out loud.

THE LEGEND OF THE TREE BOY (3 & 4)
3.
THE OLD CHIEF
The old chief rained insults upon the two officers that had
brought his son before him. They were dumbfounded because they had never
bargained for what they had met at the house of the bald, potbellied, old chief
with some grayish hair at the beard and side of the temples. More so, according
to the norm, gray hair signifies wisdom and good judgment. But that was an
utter anomaly! The elderly man hadn't reciprocated their fair judgment and
discretion at all. They were supposed to present his son, Bale, or any other
accused fellow before only the serving chiefs, as was the tradition of the
village and he knew!
“So you two, Dada
and Ofa?” said the old chief, “You have the guts to arrest my son according to
the law of the stupid chief you just had? Is this how you two also want to
repay me for my kindness? Or have you forgotten that during my reign that I
made you two and so many ungrateful idiots like yourselves what you are today?
But I still believe that when the time comes, the people of this land as a
whole would come to realize how stupid they were and then they will all clamour
back for their old chief, me! The rich and influential chief Onidoti Adugbo,
the not so rigid man that gives them freedom to do as they choose!” He beats
his hand on his chest boastfully on his chest as he spoke, “then I shall deal
with you two and all other ungrateful ones yourselves personally.

A NEW CHIEF
(FIRST PUBLISHED UNDER THE EXQUISITE MORAL CLASSICS)
2010
ISBN 978-978-906-791-6
“Cleanliness should be the responsibility of everybody,”
said the new chief of the Olobun village, to those that had gathered to listen
to his maiden speech at the village square. “We can no longer allow dirtiness
to continue to draw us backward. And henceforth, a severe penalty shall be
meted out to anyone who transgresses the law of a proper sanitation and common
sense. Ha, Ha! The entire village's water had been turned into a garbage and
defecation spots. No longer will that be tolerated!” The chief concluded.
It was a pertinent
issue worth addressing and everybody present applauded the firm resolution of
the new chief. For that said reason, many outsiders had refused to come into
the village for any commercial transaction of any kind. And it was causing a
setback to the development of the entire
village, whereas the situation in other neighbouring villages was the converse.
It had even become a slogan outside the
village that : “if you want to live long, don't ever visit the Olobun
village!”

The Dictionary hacked
A long time ago when the English dictionary was still pass
word protected and only the academic professors and well educated people could
log into; some groups of geeks, hackers and academic dropouts came together and
decided to liberate the ordinary people and make the English language more user
friendly. At first they hacked into the
dictionary and when they discovered that they couldn't make any sense of most
of the vocabularies there they decided to change and re-write the rules.
They infected the English dictionary with viruses and soon some
words that meant something in the pasts began to take some new meanings, they also
coined some new words and distorted some right spellings. Now several years
down the line people can't even differentiate between what was in the past and
what is today anymore. And soon it began to affect all strata of lives of the unsuspectingly
people; even the teachers too are not excluded.

We now know the team is Becky Gomez as the Yellow Ranger, R.J. Cyler as
the Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the
Red Ranger and Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger.
Several days ago, a report claimed
that the new Power Rangers would not use the names of the original
characters -- Trini, Billy, Zack, Jason and Kimberly, but Saban tweeted
those very names today. We reached out to Saban and they confirmed to us
that those are in fact the names that will be used in the film.
